Installing Nex Gen Video Conferencing Exchange (NGVX)
You can download an evaulation copy of NGVX by filling out the request form on the download page. You will receive an email containing a download link to the self-extracting download bundle for your operating system.
The self-extracting download bundle contains both the NGVX SIP server and the required NGMS media server. You install it by executing the download file as a shell script.
Open a terminal shell cd <Your Download Directory> chmod u+x ./ngvx_linux_x86_32_v1.7.0.bin ./ngvx_linux_x86_32_v1.7.0.bin
The install script will guide you through installation and setup.
Launch NGVX from the shell by invoking the startngvx.sh script found in the base installation directory.
cd <NGVX Installation Path>/ngvx_linux_x86_32 ./startngvx.sh
During first time configuration you will be asked to obtain a license key for running NGMS (Nex Gen Media Server). You may need to email the license key request generated by the startup script to firstname.lastname@example.org and wait to receive an evaluation license key.
The license key file you receive should be copied to <NGVX Installation Path>/ngvx_linux_x86_32/ngms/etc/license.dat
NGVX runs as a java process using the Mobicents JAIN-SIP framework.
If you do not have the Java Platform JRE 6 (v1.6) or higher installed you can download and install it for your operating system from here.
You will be asked to set SDP_CONNECT_LOCATION to the external IP address or full hostname of your system.
This address needs to be reachable by any video media clients placing a video call.
If you are testing on your localized private network you can set this to the IP of your network interface.
When the server starts up you will see output resembling the following.

If you wish to change the listening ports you should edit conf/server.xml.
To make sure everything has started without errors take a look at the server log located in logs/sip-ngconference.log and take not of any errors or warnings.
